Monday August 10
Today, we drove around 380 miles from Carlsbad, New Mexico to Abilene, Texas. The one way I could describe the scenery is flat. Once we got about 50 miles away from our morning campground, everything just went horizontal. Some other recurrent things we saw were one oil refinery, masses of oil drilling sites, and incredible windmill farms. They just popped up every 30 miles or so, taking up large stretches of land. Nothing really happened today, I just needed to report something, just for the sake of the blog. Anyway, tonight's closing will be in Czech: Sbohem a dobrou noc !

Hi Folks, Well, We can see that you are on the way home. Your own bed will feel mighty good when you get there. I had to laugh when I saw the Flat description. All I can remember from all the times we crossed there was that it was sooo hot and the first couple of times we had NO air conditioning. You kids bellyached and we hung towels over the windows and etc. "The Good Ole Days!" Sounds like the caverns were really cool - temperaturewise too. I wish we had stopped there at one of our crossings. Oh Well!! That's about it. We are heading over to Cusicks today. Dad will get a load of wood and we'll visit before everybody heads off in different directions for the year. We have to leave early tomorrow AM as I have Bunko ladies arriving at one PM.Ugh!! I have to find a way to get out of that group. What a waste of time!! Cheers until the next time. Love, Gram
